What is EXMO?
To kick off this EXMO review, let’s get ourselves acquainted with the platform first. So, what is EXMO? Well, it’s a pretty well-known cryptocurrency exchange that is serving over 1 million traders worldwide. As a proud member of Trust (Travel Rule Universal Solution Technology), EXMO has been up and running since 2014.
The EXMO team believes in one vision: a world where crypto is in every wallet. So, they are dedicated to providing a cryptocurrency exchange that is simple and accessible to every individual.
Primarily based in Poland, EXMO has a secondary office in Lithuania. Beyond Europe, most traders worldwide can access EXMO’s services with only a few regional restrictions. These include the UK, the US, Japan, China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Syria, North Korea, and some other regions.
Currently, EXMO processes a daily trading volume of around $60 million. It offers 155+ crypto trading pairs and 70+ cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, Dogecoin, and other crypto assets, along with its own native token, the EXMO Coin (EXM).
Aside from crypto-crypto pairs, you’ll also find quite a spread of crypto-fiat pairs with UAH, USD, EUR, and more. It's worth noting that EXMO is especially beneficial for Ukrainian traders as it's one of the few exchanges that offers fiat on-ramp/off-ramp for UAH.
Now, for managing the aforementioned assets, EXMO facilitates users with a multi-currency wallet to eliminate the hassle of opening multiple accounts.
By the way, EXMO is accessible not only via desktop but also its mobile app (available on iOS and Android devices).
Overall, the key advantage of this exchange over other major CEXs is its simplicity and user-friendly approach to advanced functionality. With sophisticated features like margin trading, exclusive crypto bundles, and a highly profitable Earn program, the app effectively meets the needs of both beginners and experienced traders!
That said, let’s get onto the next phase of my EXMO Bitcoin review and look into the platform’s features in more depth.

EXMO Review: PROS
Simply knowing what is EXMO won’t provide you enough insight to decide if it truly caters to your trading style. I’ve tried the platform myself and I’m ready to share some interesting findings in this EXMO review.
What is the EXMO cryptocurrency exchange good for? Does the platform really deliver its promise to make trading hassle-free? Time to find out.
Trading for Both Newbies & Pros
Wherever you are in your trading journey, getting yourself acquainted with order books, real-time charts, and key tools will come in handy. Once you’re skilled enough, a trading interface becomes your source of truth for critical insights.
What catches my attention, and thus deserves a highlight in this EXMO exchange review, is how the platform bridges the gap for traders of all experience levels. Whether you’re seeking a simplified trading experience or a more in-depth approach, the EXMO cryptocurrency exchange provides both options.
So, how beginner-friendly is the exchange? EXMO has the Simple Trade feature that allows users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies with a few clicks. So, instead of the robust spot market you see on a typical exchange, EXMO’s trading dashboard looks much simpler.
EXMO showcases all the cryptocurrencies available to trade in one go, such as BTC, ETH, DOGE, SHIB, and USDT. Plus, EXMO sort of helps you by showing which tokens or coins are “Gainers” and “Losers”.
Despite its simplified appearance, the dashboard features all the needed information. You can view the real-time buy/sell prices and a graph to visually track movements in an easy-to-digest manner. Also, you can monitor 24-hour market changes or filter data for the last 7 or 30 days, giving you a more extensive overview to make a decision.
Additionally, the EXMO cryptocurrency exchange supports buying and selling in several currencies: USD, EUR, PLN, UAH, and GBP. However, the crypto you can buy/sell might change based on the fiat currency you choose. By the way, pairs with NGN and BRL will also be added in the future.
So, yes, simplified trading is ideal if you’re in the early phase of your crypto journey or in a hurry. However, if this simplified trading feature is not enough, you can also trade the technical way. The EXMO cryptocurrency exchange features the Advanced Trade feature with a full-package trading interface and several order types.
Not only can you buy or sell crypto at its market price, but you can also mitigate risks by setting a stop price when placing an order. That said, the one order type that stands out is EXMO's limit order, which offers flexibility with the following options:
- Post Only. Turning this on allows you to increase liquidity by placing a maker order with reduced fees. Note that this order cannot be executed instantly, as you can only buy the asset below the market price or sell above it.
- Fill or Kill (FOK). When you activate this, you can instantly execute or cancel your trade. In other words, if the market can’t meet your request, the order won’t be executed.
- Immediate or Cancel (IOC). By switching this on, you can either execute your order in full or in part, following the market situation.
There’s still more to this trading interface. Aside from the classic tools that allow you to draw trend lines, change the graph style, or compare between indicators, what’s unique is the News section. Here, you’ll get real-time updates on the cryptocurrencies listed on EXMO, providing you with secondary references to inform your next move.
It seems like EXMO has set up quite a middle-ground with its trading features. The simple trading feature can be a solution if you’re looking for no-nonsense trading. However, if you prefer something extra, full-blown market trading can be your choice.
Furthermore, if you are someone who prefers trading in larger volumes, EXMO's cryptocurrency exchange offers margin trading, which allows you to leverage your trades and take long or short positions. Mind that this functionality is only available in some areas in Europe.
That said, as of now, it is only possible to conduct spot trading on EXMO.
Solid Security Features
Security is a top priority for traders worldwide. After all, crypto is poised to become a global financial tool for the digital economy[1]. So, you’ll be relieved to know that the exchange in question takes user security rather seriously, and it's evident from the number of positive user EXMO reviews regarding this aspect.
Two-factor authentication is a given, adding a second barrier to your login process. In the grim scenario that a hacker gets your password, well, it wouldn’t turn grim so fast. The intruder will still need a code from your phone or email to gain access, so your assets will be safe from unauthorized trespassing.
Another user protection measure that EXMO offers is “Trusted IP”. This means your account can only be accessed when the IP (or a list of IPs if you use multiple devices) matches the one you’ve specified.
EXMO also takes all the possible precautions to protect your data, not only your IP, as written in their privacy policy. The EXMO cryptocurrency exchange has been registered as a Controller of Personal Data.
Plus, only the sender, support service staff, and certified AML officers can access your personal details. That is also in a specific scenario when you're requesting such information be processed by EXMO’s verification department (let's say, when your account is locked).
So, yes, the platform not only has one or two, but multiple user protection measures – but I haven’t even mentioned all of them in this EXMO Bitcoin review yet. The cryptocurrency exchange also uses anti-phishing codes to ensure that only the email officially sent by the EXMO company lands in your inbox.
Besides that, it uses Hexagate to secure all users' assets in the Earn program. Hexagate is an enterprise-grade security platform designed to protect protocols, Web3 applications, asset managers, and VASPs from cyber exploits, hacks, and governance and financial risks.
Adding in SSL encryption for secure data transmission and AML/KYC implementations, it does seem like EXMO adheres to the best security practices while also meeting global compliance standards.
However, these alone aren’t enough, as you’re also entrusting your funds to EXMO. Luckily, EXMO stores your funds in both cold and hot wallets for risk diversification purposes.
Of all user assets, only 1% are stored in hot wallets. While these wallets are online, they are well-protected with advanced security mechanisms to defend against hacker attacks. The remaining 99% are kept away in offline storage.
On top of that, for maximum security, EXMO partners with a trusted and reputable entity, Ledger, for their cold wallet infrastructure. This comes with an insurance coverage of up to $150 million, further aiding a failsafe measure.

Extra Perks With EXM
It’s quite common for crypto exchanges to release their own native tokens. But there’s something rather unique with EXMO crypto exchange’s own token, EXM. Its utility not only covers standard earning features but also extends to staking. So, let’s talk about the advantages that EXM offers in this part of my EXMO exchange review.
EXM itself is integrated into nearly all of the services within EXMO’s internal ecosystem. When used together with EXMO’s products and tools, users may obtain bonuses and perks while benefiting from an increased layer of security for their investments.
As a token, EXM is based on the ERC-20 standard. The total supply for EXM is capped at 2 billion tokens, with 50% allocated for burning (or locked up for 3 years). This token burn happens quarterly, gradually reducing the circulating supply to stimulate growth and demand.
The EXMO crypto exchange also offers a series of incentives to encourage the use of its internal token. One of the most noteworthy perks is reduced trading fees for EXM holders through EXMO Premium packages.
These packages work like a 30-day subscription, for which you can top up as little as 1 USD or more, depending on the tier you choose: Basic, Standard, and Advanced. I’ll cover these in more detail when we get to the pricing section of my EXMO review.
Plus, if you refer friends who trade using the EXMO tokens, you’ll receive higher referral payouts.
Looking ahead, more developments are in the roadmap to increase EXMO Coin’s functionality, including its integration with copy trading, margin trading, payment gateways, wallets, token conversions, and more. In addition to that, EXMO plans to release a P2P platform in the first quarter of 2025. So, keep yourself updated by being constantly in the loop of user EXMO Bitcoin reviews.
Chances to Maximize Your Yield With EXMO Earn
When you're investing, it's typical to expect some returns. EXMO, as a cryptocurrency exchange, offers opportunities for you to earn yield, which can be generated by depositing and holding your crypto in a wallet[2].
That said, on EXMO, you can earn an annual percentage yield (APY) via fixed-term deposits of up to 17% on altcoins and up to 15% on stablecoins. Here is a list of some available assets along with their APYs (as of writing):
Mind that there is a minimum and maximum deposit amount for each of the assets above. Currently, EXMO Earn supports 30 tokens and coins for generating potential passive income. The selection is quite diverse, as there are not only top assets available but some popular meme coins like PEPE or WIF, as well.
Plus, with EXMO Coins, you can boost your yield with potential returns of up to 17.5%. There are also special packages that offer higher interest rates with the more EXM you hold, namely Standard (a minimum balance of 40,000 EXM) and Advanced (a minimum balance of 90,000 EXM).
The process for participating in the Earn program is also simple. Deposit the funds or transfer them to your wallet, choose between the Basic, Standard and Advanced Package (note that you can hold EXM and several other assets at once for diversified returns), start a subscription, and the incentives will be disbursed once its period ends.
Each EXMO Earn subscription has a specific lifespan: 30, 60, 90, or 180 days. The subscription begins automatically at 00:00 UTC the following day after you start it. The amount locked for earning, along with the rewards, will be returned to your balance within 24 hours of your subscription period's end, starting at 00:00 UTC.
You might be asking, where is all of this yield derived from? EXMO deploys users’ funds to multiple blue-chip DeFi protocols with over $100 million of total value locked in each of them. Of course, storing your assets in EXMO comes with some sort of commitment. Rest assured, though, EXMO employs a multi-layered risk monitoring and management system to safeguard your precious assets. How does it work?
For starters, your account will be under the round-the-clock supervision of Kroll, a risk and financial advisory enterprise. The EXMO crypto exchange's holdings are also rigorously monitored by reputable security firms like Hexagate. Finally, to further mitigate risks, EXMO spreads user assets across different protocols and keeps a close eye on their performance for timely relocations when needed.
Diversify With Crypto Bundles
Aside from buying crypto one by one, another aspect worth mentioning in this EXMO Bitcoin review is buying crypto in bundles.
Bundles refer to a collection of digital assets that usually pique the interest of buyers looking to diversify their portfolios. Essentially, when you're purchasing bundles, you won't need to go through a whole round of research and compare the assets separately, as EXMO has curated a vetted selection of cryptocurrencies for you.
The assets that go into the bundles are evaluated based on several factors, such as market capitalization, trading volume, and the project's overall performance. Based on those parameters, EXMO determines the percentage allocation for each token or coin to complete the bundle, but users can also adjust that percentage as they please.
Now, what kind of bundles does the EXMO cryptocurrency exchange offer, exactly? Well, for one, if you've been riding the popularity wave of meme coins, it offers a Meme Coin bundle. This bundle includes a mix of trending favorites like DOGE, SHIB, WIF, FLOKI, and PEPE.
Or maybe you would like to step into the immersive world of the Metaverse? On EXMO, you'll find the Metaverse bundle, which is composed of next-gen investments like Render, the Sandbox, Decentraland, Axie Infinity, and the Enjin coin.
If you're looking at the Metaverse bundle, you might also want to check out the DeFi token bundle. It comes packed with numerous projects, namely Chainlink, The Graph, Uniswap, Lido DAO, and Aave.
Aside from the ones I've covered in this EXMO exchange review, there are other bundle variants to pick and choose based on your preferences or risk tolerance. For instance, if you'd like to play it safe, the top-tier coin bundle that brings aboard the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana would be a pretty solid bet.
Note that, as of writing, only crypto bundles are available. There are no fiat or stablecoin bundles on EXMO's cryptocurrency exchange, but they are planned to be added in the near future. Plus, you cannot customize the coins that go into the bundle.
That said, buying a crypto bundle is pretty simple. Begin by creating an account on EXMO, then you can get your hands on multiple assets with a few clicks. Before finalizing your move, make sure to take into account the real-time pricing and other metrics.

EXMO Review: CONS
At this point, we already have a good grasp on what is EXMO as a cryptocurrency exchange, along with the interesting features and tools it offers. With that in mind, there's one thing left to unfold in this EXMO exchange review. Does the crypto trading platform have any drawbacks? After all, no exchange is perfect.
Limited Global Availability
Probably the only con of the platform as of writing is that EXMO is not accessible to everyone. For example, if you are from the UK, you will not be able to use EXMO because of the UK regulatory measures regarding cryptocurrencies. The exchange does primarily target EU & Ukrainian users.
Now, this might be a bit confusing. In some older EXMO reviews, the UK is mentioned a couple of times as one of the countries where the platform is available. The truth is that EXMO UK was operational. However, it ceased operations on the 6th of October, 2023, after stricter regulations from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) came into effect.
So, yes, despite what's written in some EXMO reviews, UK traders are definitely restricted from the platform. Likewise, the story is a bit complex if you're a trader from Japan, as the EXMO crypto exchange is also inaccessible there.
Plus, if you're from China, EXMO will not be accessible to you because crypto is deemed illegal in the country. On top of that, traders from the US, Russia, Belarus, and Khazakstan cannot use the platform either.
How about your jurisdiction? Well, it depends on where you live. If you're from any other country that I haven't mentioned, make sure to do your part of due diligence. Wherever you are, though, remember to trade safely.
EXMO Pricing and Fees
In this EXMO review, we've looked into nearly all its features... But another thing as important to tackle is the pricing, especially if you're a budget-conscious trader (after all, who isn't?). So, what are the fees you might stumble upon when using EXMO's cryptocurrency exchange?
If you use the Simple Trade feature, you'll be charged a 1% fee on any trading amount + a payment provider fee, which varies based on the provider.
When using the Advanced Trade feature, the EXMO exchange fees will depend on the type of trading pairs you choose. Crypto/crypto pair fees start at 0.1%, crypto/USDT at 0.2%, and crypto/fiat at 0.3%.
However, the larger the volume you trade, the lower the fees you pay on EXMO. For instance, if your 30-day trade volume amounts to $50 million, your EXMO exchange fees for crypto/crypto pairs will be reduced to 0% if you're a maker, and 0.02% if you're a taker.
That said, if you don't necessarily plan to raise your volume that high, you can also get discounts on fees by purchasing one of the EXMO Premium packages, which are as follows:
Tier | Pricing | Maker Fee | Taker Fee |
Basic | $1 | 0.095% | 0.1% |
Standard | $10 | 0.055% | 0.075% |
Advanced | $100 | 0.04% | 0.06% |
Professional | $500 | 0% | 0.03% |
Table: EXMO Premium pricing and perks.
The purchased package will be valid for 30 days, after which you'll have to purchase it again if you want to continue having the discount.
For crypto deposits, there are no EXMO on-ramp fees. However, some costs will be incurred for withdrawals, but they differ based on the asset in question. For instance, withdrawing Bitcoin will cost you 0.0001 BTC.
Depending on the payment method, such as VISA/Mastercard, Apple Pay, and Advcash, you might also need to pay extra deposit and withdrawal fees.
How to Use EXMO
Now that we know what is EXMO along with its pros and cons, let's also figure out the how. I'll guide you through the steps to create an account and deposit your funds in this EXMO review so that you can get started with trading.
Step 1: Visit the EXMO website and click on the "Sign Up" button located at the top right of the homepage. You’ll need to enter your email address, select a username, and create a strong password. Afterward, agree to EXMO’s User Agreement, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy. Complete the CAPTCHA to confirm you’re not a bot, then proceed.
Step 2: Check your email inbox for a confirmation message from EXMO. Click the link provided in the email to verify your account and activate it. Don’t forget to check your spam folder if the email doesn’t arrive right away.
Step 3: Complete the Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verification to unlock access to all features, including fiat deposits and larger withdrawal limits. This can be done by clicking on the "person" icon at the top right and heading to "Account Verification". Here, you'll need to upload a government-issued ID, such as a passport or driver’s license, along with a selfie holding the same ID.
Step 4: Enhance your account security by setting up two-factor authentication (2FA). Download and install an authentication app such as Google Authenticator. Once set up, you’ll be prompted to enter a unique, time-sensitive code from the app every time you log in.
Step 5: To make your first deposit, click on the green "Deposit" button at the top right. You can choose between fiat currency (such as USD, EUR, or GBP) or cryptocurrency. For fiat deposits, select your preferred payment method, like a credit card or SEPA bank transfer, and follow any required steps.

Conclusions
Time to wrap up this EXMO review! So, what is the key takeaway? Does the platform really deliver its promise of making crypto trading hassle-free?
Taking a careful look at the pros, it seems so. With its dual-purpose trading features, EXMO gives options for both beginners and experts. Not only is EXMO secure, but it also offers various incentives through its native token, EXM, and the Earn program. Its crypto bundles are also pretty interesting if you're looking to diversify your portfolio.
Unfortunately, as stipulated in this EXMO review, the UK is among the countries restricted from accessing the exchange, along with the US, Japan, China, and more.
That's all for this EXMO exchange review. It’s time for you to try out the platform!
