Coming Soon: Uniswap v4 Teases Major Updates for 2025

Uniswap Labs shared a teaser on X on January 2, a simple image of the year “2025” with the caption “v4 is coming soon”. However, no specific release date was mentioned. 

Uniswap v4 promises to bring important changes to the platform. One key feature is the introduction of Hooks, which lets developers add custom functionality to trades. This will enable advanced tools like limit orders, fee customization, and automated liquidity management.

On December 31, 2024, the team shared plans for an eventful year, mentioning, “Between v4, Unichain, and a few other surprises... it's going to be a very pink year”.

The development of v4 has been a prolonged process. Initially, the team announced in February 2024 that v4 would launch in the third quarter of the year following Ethereum ETH $2,064.22 ’s Dencun upgrade. However, the update remained in testing throughout the year.

Despite the delay, Uniswap has kept its community engaged with updates and progress reports.

In June 2023, Uniswap’s founder, Hayden Adams, introduced a draft version of the v4 code. He described it as a process that would take months to complete, which prioritized open development and community contributions.
