The social media account of the late John McAfee, a well-known cybersecurity figure, is promoting a new artificial intelligence (AI) driven cryptocurrency.
A January 23 post on X declared, “I’m back with AIntivirus. An AI version of myself. You didn’t think I would miss this cycle, did you?”
The post also included a link to the project’s website and details about the token’s smart contract.

The project, called AIntivirus, is built on the Solana blockchain. Its website describes it as a tool to challenge digital surveillance, corporate dominance, and control.
McAfee’s widow, Janice McAfee, has defended the initiative, stating it as a tribute to her husband’s passion for technology and personal freedom.
In a post on X, she explained, “Ever since John's untimely death, I have been looking for ways to honor the genius he was and build on the legacy he left behind. John would have loved this crypto cycle, and I am happy to have found a project that allows him to participate posthumously”.
Despite her explanation, many in the crypto community are skeptical. Some wonder if McAfee’s account or the project itself has been taken over by others.
