Neymar Jr. Joins the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Purchases NFT Worth Almost $500k

PSG's elite superstar from Brazil Neymar Jr. announced that he picked up his second Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT for $481.6K.

Alongside being one of the most successful soccer players in the world, Neymar has been very active on social media, dabbled in video games, and, recently, showed a high interest in the NFT industry.

On January 20 of 2022, the world-renowned player announced that he had purchased a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT, and made it his profile picture on Twitter. Based on Opensea's transaction sheet, Neymar paid 159.99 ETH (almost $482k at the time of buying) for the NFT.

This particular Bored Ape 6633 NFT, on average, goes for 94.663 ETH (just over 273k with current prices).

With that being said, this wasn’t the first time the Brazilian soccer player dabbled with NFTs. He also has a Bored Ape 5269 NFT which he bought for 189.69 ETH ($570K at the time of buying).

It seems that the BAYC is amongst the most popular collections of NFTs amongst celebrities. On New Year’s Eve of 2022, Eminem purchased a look-alike Bored Ape NFT, named the EminApe, for $462k.
