CADA, a Sydney radio station, has aired a daily program, Workdays with Thy, without telling listeners that the host was created by artificial intelligence (AI).
The station admitted that Thy’s voice was built using technology from the San Francisco company ElevenLabs, but had not mentioned it anywhere in the show’s description or promotions, according to The Sydney Morning Herald.
Workdays with Thy, launched in November 2024, offers music from 11 AM to 3 PM. While Thy’s voice and look are based on a real employee at ARN Media, CADA explained that real music professionals still select the songs played during the show.

Bullish vs Bearish Markets: How to Predict it? (Animated)
By March, the show had reached around 72,000 listeners, according to the station. This made it one of CADA’s more successful programs, although it was not the only one to use AI as a presenter.
The company behind Thy’s voice, ElevenLabs, started in January 2023. It provides services such as text-to-speech, voice cloning, and dubbing in more than 30 languages.
Currently, Australian media rules do not require radio stations to inform their audiences if they are listening to AI-generated content. It is up to each station to decide whether to disclose it. Following the criticism, CADA said it would update its show description to make it clear that Thy is not a human.
