What Is the MOSS Project?
MOSS is a market solution that aims to address climate change issues and protect the Amazon Forest. It has developed the carbon credit market called the Moss Carbon Credit. Carbon credits are digital certificates that organizations or people can buy to lessen their impact on the environment, or more particularly, to reduce their carbon emissions.
You can have a better look at the Moss Carbon Credit price on the graph above.
Essentially, MOSS purchases carbon credits from reputable environmental programs in the Amazon Forest. These programs produce, certify, and market credits while preventing or capturing atmospheric CO2 emissions.
Global organizations like Social Carbon or VCS Standard certify the carbon credits. This makes the credits valid and ensures that the emission of one ton of carbon equivalent was indeed prevented in a given year.
The credits can be used by buyers to offset their carbon footprint. Besides, these credits are based on blockchain technology. This makes them secure and traceable. Also, it helps to avoid double-spending.
Additionally, note that the MOSS project has the MOSS token, which is the governance token of the platform. This means that it can be used to participate in the decision-making processes of the platform. Besides that, it also has the MCO2 token which is the driving force of the platform.
What Is Moss Carbon Credit (MCO2)?
Moss Carbon Credit (MCO2) is an ERC-20 token. It powers the carbon credit market. The tokens are used to buy carbon credits. Thus, one MCO2 token equals one carbon credit. The Moss Carbon Credit token will eventually allow users to embed carbon offsetting in other tokens and smart contracts.
The code of the Moss Carbon Credit coins contains a link to a page at MOSS where the holder has the option of burning the tokens. After the tokens are burned, MOSS cancels the equivalent carbon credit that acts as the token's ledger. Based on the supply and demand for carbon credits, MOSS can produce an infinite number of MCO2 tokens.
Please note that the Moss Carbon Credit price is volatile. This means that it tends to fluctuate due to various factors affecting the market. It's a common characteristic of blockchain-based projects.
