What is Newton?
Newton, named after Isaac Newton, is an open-source platform providing solutions for launching decentralized applications (dApp) and infrastructure for the community economy. Its technical framework consists of the application layer, the protocol layer, and the foundational technology layer.
The current version is Newton 2.0. The project presents itself as a blockchain-based network, which is particularly designed for Web3 and Metaverse. It is the direct response to the lack of a proper platform on the market, created to enable a new era of large-scale dApps.
Newton is using a Proof-of-Stake-class consensus – NewConsensus, which reminds of Ethereum 2.0's Casper FFG, except that NewConsensus selects the block producers and a collection of verifiers in a random manner. This allows for achieving high performance and very fast validation regardless of a large number of users.
It also features multiple innovative virtual machines and development kits for Web3, Metaverse, and other industries, which improve the efficiency of application development. Moreover, users can use the Newton blockchain with no transaction fees.
The platform is using Newton coin (NEW) as its native currency. The current NEW price can be seen on the Newton price chart above.
Use Cases of NEW Tokens
Newton coin is used mainly for transferring value between the main chain and its subchains, as well as in between the subchains. This includes incentive contributions, paying transactional fees, acting as a value measurement and storage, and so on.
