What is POA NETWORK (POA)?

The POA Network is an Ethereum-based platform that offers an open-source framework for smart contracts. POA coin was instrumental in the development of the first functional cross-chain-bridging architecture. This type of "mint and burn" bridge has become the de facto bridge infrastructure connecting L1s throughout Ethereum. POA Network allows for standalone networks to be launched with a separate set of validators and developers to deploy DApps.

The network, which was launched in December 2017 by the founding team, is currently run by a set of validators, voted in through the on-chain governance system. Project’s technical lead, Igor Barinov, is a developer and serial entrepreneur, who previously co-founded Block Notary. Block Notary is a notary service built on blockchain technology, which is used by a number of American and European banks.

POA NETWORK bridging technology allows users to bridge their POA tokens easily from one blockchain to another and back again. Users can convert their own POA crypto tokens from the POA Network onto the Ethereum network.
