What Is RMRK?
RMRK is the native token of the RMRK (Remark) platform, which is an NFT-based platform that runs on the Kusama blockchain. Kusama is Polakdot’s canary network. If you’re interested in the current RMRK price, check out the RMRK price chart above.
The RMRK crypto project allows developers to utilize already existing blocks to create new non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The RMRK platform claims to provide users with a set of NFT legos, which allows them to comprise complex pieces.
In essence, this means that users are provided with a huge variety of already created NFTs, such as, for example, hats, glasses, and so on, which they can use to create their own unique NFT pieces. Each NFT created on RMRK is multi-chain, liquid, forward-compatible, and usually contains interactive multimedia.
The RMRK provides users with its own NFT marketplace. It allows them to buy, sell, or trade NFTs created on RMRK. The marketplace is eco-friendly and has low transaction fees.
One of the most popular NFT collections developed by the RMRK project itself is Kanaria. It features limited-edition eggs that hatch into valuable birds. Besides, Kanaria presented a brand-new function called on-chain emotes, which lets users leave reactions (like the ones you leave on social media posts) on NFTs. In addition to that, there’s Kanaria Skybreach, which is a 2D pixel-based metaverse.
The Developers of the RMRK
The RMRK crypto project was developed by Bruno Škvorc, Yuri Petushko, Yuri Girjanskis, and Ilia Dvornikovs.
Bruno Škvorc has a degree in computer science. In the past, he was a developer in such companies as InTech, SitePoint, Crypto Hunt, ShareTool.io, LakeDiamond, and Coinvendor. As of writing this, he is still a developer at Diffbot, the CEO of Bitfalls, and a strategic advisor of Pazar in addition to being the founder of RMRK.
Yuri Petushko is a full-stack JavaScript developer. Prior to becoming a part of the RMRK development team, he worked at such companies as LBi, Frontera, Friday, Truphone, Bridebook.co.uk, and so on.
Yuri Girjanskis is a front-end and React JavaScript developer. There’s not much information about his prior work experiences as there’s also not much information about Ilia Dvornikovs.
Use Cases of RMRK
In essence, RMRK is a token that drives the whole RMRK ecosystem. It has more than one use case, including:
- RMRK tokens can be used to curate NFT collections and report them as plagiarized.
- RMRK tokens can be used to pay success commission fees of initial collectible offerings.
- Developers of NFT collections must keep a balance of at least 10 RMRK tokens.
- RMRK tokens can be used to pay Karura chain transaction fees.
Besides the aforementioned use cases, there are many more RMRK token functions planned for the future.
Though note that the RMRK price is subject to change. Why? Essentially because when the crypto market fluctuates, all asset prices are affected, including the RMRK price.
Tokenomics of RMRK
The max supply of RMRK coins is 10 million. The majority of the supply (88%) was given to those who bought Kanaria NFTs. The remaining supply was dedicated to the founding team and loaned out to market makers.
