What is TerraKRW (KRT)?
Terra is a blockchain-based network used for the development of stablecoins pegged to famous fiat currencies. The platform is mostly known for the creation of TerraUSD (UST) which, unfortunately, lost its peg to the USD and resulted in the collapse of Terra on May 9, 2022. In an effort to save the project, Do Kwon offered a revival plan, which suggested splitting the Terra blockchain into two chains – a new version of Terra and an old one. The plan was taken into motion and now there is the new chain, Terra (or Terra 2.0), and the old chain, Terra Classic.
TerraKRW (KRT), on the other hand, is a stablecoin that is pegged to the Korean Won. The KRT price is relatively stable since it is pegged to a fiat currency. Though it is important to note that the TerraKRW price may still vary slightly from its pegged rate with the Korean Won. However, the network's algorithm readjusts it to keep it stable.
Who Founded Terra?
Terra was founded in 2018 by Terraform Labs. The latter was co-founded by Do Kwon and Daniel Shin.
Shin is a business analyst and venture capitalist. In 2020, he left the Terra project, and since then, he serves as CEO of Chai, a provider of payment technologies.
Kwon is a blockchain developer and computer scientist. He is also the CEO of Terraform Labs, the organization that created Terra. He once worked on the abandoned stablecoin project Basis Cash.
