HTML code Tag: Main Tips
- The
<code>
element usually contains fragments of HTML code (or code of other languages) and styles them differently than the rest of the text. - Browsers display the content of HTML
<code>
tags by applying the default monospaced font. - The
<code>
and <samp> elements are used for creating examples or snippets of HTML codes. - HTML
<code>
tags must be closed.
How code Works
HTML <code>
tag changes the styling of its content to make computer code fragments easier to identify.

Default style for code element<br>
<code>
code {
font-family:monospace;
}
</code>
</p>
In the HTML code example above, you can compare two types of text styling. First, you see plain text as usual. After the HTML line break, the <code>
tags enclose a part of computer code.
Note: when you want to display code in HTML blocks, it is best to apply a combination of <code> and <pre> to preserve indentation and line breaks.
