FAQ
So again, what is BitDegree micro-scholarships?
BitDegree micro-scholarships is a transparent way to get financial support for motivated students who have limited financial resources to buy online courses. Knowing what courses they want to enroll in, learners can ask for support from sponsors globally via our program. When the application is successful, all course fees will be covered. Students will also receive a financial reward for the time and effort spent while learning. They are only required to successfully complete the course in time!
How long does it typically take to get funding?
You can get a scholarship for online classes the same day, or in some cases it could take a few weeks. We're actively working to attract sponsors to donate micro-scholarships for online education. You can make it easy for sponsors to make a quick decision and fund you by writing a clear story on why you need a small scholarship and why you want to learn new skills. Everyone wants to make a lasting impression on sponsors, so it’s worth the effort to share a detailed genuine story about yourself.
How will I know if I receive funding?
You will be informed by email, so make sure you indicate your correct email address when creating an account and filling in the application for the scholarship online. Stay alert and keep an eye on your inbox for any additional information from our team.
Why are there time limits for micro-scholarships?
These are achievement-based scholarships for online classes. To make sure the funding has an impact, you really need to study and prove you are serious about your choice. You’ll have plenty of time to complete the course, but if you for some reason you fail to meet the deadline, you won’t unlock the scholarship. In such case, the funds will be returned to the sponsor who can then fund someone else.
I have submitted the application, but I don’t see it among others.
Our team has to check if you have filled in all the required information. If there is something missing or we identify some issues, we would contact you by email to solve them. When all the details are in place, your request for a small scholarship for online classes becomes visible. You will also see the status “Request published” in your dashboard.
Can I login with email?
No, for verification purposes, only login with Facebook or LinkedIn is supported.
What does it mean to “complete the course successfully”?
To get the small scholarship and unlock the blockchain certificate, you need to complete a course before the date indicated as the deadline in your application form.
I’ve missed the deadline. Will I receive a penalty?
No, there are no penalties if you fail to finish the course by the time indicated in the online micro-scholarship application. However, you won’t receive a scholarship as these are achievement-based small scholarships.
I’ve received a scholarship in BDG tokens. How do I use it?
BDG is a cryptocurrency that enables these small scholarships to be fully transparent and work globally. The scholarship received in BDG is of equal value to the scholarship size indicated in the application in USD. You can use BDG tokens in multiple ways. We have prepared a detailed tutorial on how you can do that on BitDegree platform, exchange, and elsewhere.
I don’t have an ETH Wallet. What is it? Why do I need it?
An ETH or Ethereum wallet is an application where you can easily store and send your collected Ethereum cryptocurrency. You need this type of wallet because the small scholarship, which you will get in BDG, will be sent to your ETH wallet address. If you do not have an ETH wallet, we have no way of sending you the scholarship you've earned. Once you have BDG tokens in your ETH wallet, you can use them on BDG platform or convert them to ETH.
Can I apply for multiple scholarships at once?
No, at any given moment, you can have only one scholarship request. If you get funded, we want you to focus on learning to unlock the scholarship. After you finish the course, you can submit another scholarship request and wait for it to be funded.
Can I get a blockchain scholarship for a traditional degree learning not online?
Currently, there are no traditional academic institution courses on our platform.
However, the system is flexible enough for this to be implemented as soon as a partnering university, college or similar academic institution registers with BitDegree. Partnering universities are welcome to join and get integrated into the program.
As a student, you can ask the target university to start a partnership with BitDegree, which would enable everyone to register and reach the sponsors’ community via BitDegree.
